'Trapped in a Dreadful Dream': Families of Missing Young People Desperately Seek Answers After Alpine Inferno

Teenage Swiss national a young man from Switzerland is one of those unaccounted for.

The loved ones of young people unaccounted for after a deadly inferno at a establishment in a Switzerland's winter destination are confronting an agonising period of uncertainty for official news and pleading for information about their loved ones publicly.

The blaze ripped through the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the middle of the night of New Year's Day. Circulated footage depict the ceiling catching alight as beverages with sparklers are raised in celebration.

Officials have indicated that it could take considerable time to formally name the fatalities of the tragedy, which killed numerous partygoers and wounded another over a hundred. A spokesperson said on the latest update that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with work continuing to name the other six.

In the waiting period, families and friends have been posting on online platforms to plead for information about their loved ones who were in attendance that fateful night.

Heartbreaking Pleas for the Unaccounted For

The fate of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are not yet determined, according to an heartfelt request from his mother.

The resident of Lutry near the city, informed a local newspaper that she had returned to Lausanne to check whether he was in the hospital, while his other parent did the same in Bern, but did not locate him.

"I'm living a nightmare, a horror. Either I find my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in critical condition. It's terrible," she told the paper.

She explained that some of his companions had been located with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they experienced hell."

The Italy's foreign ministry has indicated that six of its citizens remain missing.

Junior golfer Emanuele Galeppini, 16, was last in contact around the turn of the new year on December 31st, his father said.

One of those is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old promising athlete, who hailed from Italy but now residing in the UAE.

The national sporting body has released a tribute that he is dead, without mentioning the tragedy, paying tribute to a "young athlete who embodied passion and true sportsmanship."

His parent, is quoted as saying that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around the new year. An official spokesperson has clarified that a official announcement of his death is awaited.

Other Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also unaccounted for. His mother said that he had been on holiday but had gone out with friends and ended up at the venue.

"Someone with him told me they escaped after the fire started and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a specific moment he couldn't see him anymore," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a distinctive piece of jewelry.

One of his teachers said, "I remember his kindness and positive demeanor, combined with great responsibility. He would frequently ask if help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek citizenship but lives permanently in the country, was also at the bar on that night, according to reports.

Her sibling has posted an appeal on social media, saying the relatives has had "no updates" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Officials from her country of origin say they are actively engaged with the developments.
