Recent details have emerged concerning the untimely passing of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their Los Angeles home home on Sunday.

The Alarm

According to a report citing a confidential source, a massage therapist arriving for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the home. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.

Upon entering the home, Romy came upon her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had accompanied her contacted 911. Subsequently, emergency responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Proceedings

Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, including the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now in custody without bail.

Clarifications

The person close to the family also disputed several previously reported details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the property, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that time.

Furthermore disputed circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation applies to reports of alleged "erratic" behavior by Nick at a gathering held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. Although the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.

Investigation Details

Per law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the residence. He was set to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
