Eulogies Pour In for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
More than two weeks following the shocking loss of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt prepared to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has gone by that I can now articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, saying that his initial encounter with Reiner left him smitten. "As we began passing more hours together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the movie, remarking that he cannot recall "any day without mirth".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a different essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge agreed to block the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A court order issued a security hold on the files to restrict the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" associated with the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a public database listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the tragedy, public individuals expressed different comments.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing controversial claims that were met with immediate backlash by several individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the critics recently. Talking on his program, Rogan characterized the remarks as "disturbing" and remarked they showed a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by suggesting that an aide could have intervened when the impulse to speak on the tragedy was made.
